Privacy Policy

Short version: PriceTrackr does not track your browsing history, does not sell your data, and only activates on travel booking sites you explicitly visit.

1. Who we are

PriceTrackr Travel is a Chrome browser extension that tracks flight and hotel prices and alerts users to price drops. This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

2. Data stored locally

The following data is stored in your Chrome profile via chrome.storage.sync and never transmitted to our servers without your explicit action:

Watchlist items — flight routes and hotel names you choose to track
Price history — price data points fetched for your watchlist items
User preferences — currency, alert threshold, check interval

Authentication tokens (if you sign in) are stored in chrome.storage.session and cleared automatically when you close the browser.

3. Data sent to our backend

When PriceTrackr checks prices, it sends flight/hotel query details and your selected currency to our secure proxy server. This data is used only to fetch the requested price and is not stored permanently beyond the API call.

4. Email address (Pro plan only)

If you enable email alerts on the Pro plan, we store your email solely to send price drop notifications. We do not use it for marketing or share it with third parties.

5. Data we do NOT collect

We do not track your browsing history
We do not collect financial data, payment information, or credentials
We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or advertising scripts

6. Permissions

storage — to save your watchlist and settings
alarms — to schedule periodic background price checks
notifications — to alert you when a tracked price drops
identity — for optional sign-in (Pro plan cross-device sync)
Content scripts on travel sites — to detect flight/hotel details on pages you are already viewing and offer to track them
Host permission — to communicate with our backend proxy server which holds API keys securely

7. Affiliate programme

When you click "View deal", PriceTrackr may use an affiliate link earning a small commission at no cost to you. Affiliate links are only used inside the popup on your explicit click. We never modify links on pages you visit.

8. Third parties

We do not sell user data. Services that may receive query data: Amadeus and Travelpayouts (price APIs), Supabase (GDPR-compliant EU database), Stripe (Pro payments), Resend (Pro email alerts).

9. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Access & export — Settings → Export CSV
Deletion — Settings → Clear all data
Objection — uninstall the extension to stop all data collection immediately

10. Data retention

Local data is stored until you clear it or uninstall. Server-side account data is removed within 30 days of account deletion.

11. Children

PriceTrackr Travel is not directed at children under 13.

12. Changes

Significant policy changes will be communicated via an in-extension notification.
